Blank page or white screen
Usually stale JavaScript after a ChatGPT update. Hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R (Win/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac). If that fails, clear site data in DevTools → Application → Clear site data.
"Network error" message
A browser extension (ad-blocker, VPN, privacy tool) is blocking ChatGPT's WebSocket stream. Open chat.openai.com in incognito mode with extensions disabled — if it works, the extension is the cause.
Response cuts off mid-sentence
Either you hit the output token limit (type "continue" to resume), a connection dropped the stream, or an extension interrupted it. Try incognito mode and regenerate the response.
Voice mode not working
Voice mode requires Plus/Pro/Team plan, Chrome or Edge browser, and microphone permission for chat.openai.com. Firefox and Safari are not supported. Check if the mic icon appears — if not, you may not have the required plan.
"Something went wrong" / can't log in
Log out from chat.openai.com → your name → Log out. Clear cookies for openai.com in browser settings. Then sign back in. Expired session tokens persist and block all requests.
Slow or stuck on "Thinking"

Go to prismix.dev/service/openai. If there is an active outage, wait — nothing else will fix it while the platform is down. OpenAI also publishes status at

Hard refresh the page
Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac). ChatGPT ships updates frequently; stale cached JS can cause blank pages or "Something went wrong" errors that only appear after a deploy. A hard refresh forces a clean load.

Try incognito mode with extensions disabled
Open
chat.openai.comin an incognito window. Incognito disables all browser extensions. If ChatGPT works in incognito, an extension is the cause — disable them one by one to find it. Common offenders: uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, 1Password, VPN extensions. - 4
Log out and log back in
Click your name in the bottom-left corner → Log out. Then sign back in. Session tokens expire (typically after 30 days) and cause persistent errors that look like a platform issue but are actually an auth problem. Check your GPT-4o rate limits
On the Free plan, GPT-4o has a limited number of messages per day (varies by demand). When you hit the limit, ChatGPT silently switches to GPT-4o mini instead of showing an error. On Plus ($20/mo), GPT-4o has an hourly cap — wait an hour or switch to GPT-4o mini temporarily.
