Common reasons Claude is not working

If Prismix shows Anthropic as "Operational" but Claude is not working for you:

Rate limits or usage caps — Claude.ai free tier has daily message limits that reset after 24 hours. Pro subscribers get higher limits, but even Pro users can hit message caps during heavy usage windows.
Context window limits — Claude models have large but finite context windows. Very long conversations (100k+ tokens on Claude 3.5) can fail mid-conversation. Start a new conversation to clear the context.
API vs web status divergence — The claude.ai website and the Anthropic API run on separate infrastructure. The API may be operational while the web app has issues (or vice versa). Prismix monitors the API; check status.anthropic.com for both.
File upload issues — Claude supports file uploads but individual files must be under 30 MB per document. If document analysis is failing while chat works, the issue may be with the document processing pipeline specifically.
Projects feature issues — Claude Projects (Pro/Team) occasionally has sync issues where instructions are not applied. Reloading the project or editing and saving the instructions again usually resolves it.
Browser or network issue — Try a different browser or disable extensions. Claude.ai uses server-sent events for streaming responses; some proxies and security tools block these.
