Sources not uploading
File too large (PDF: max 500 pages / 200MB), 50-source notebook limit reached, scanned PDF with no text layer, or YouTube video not in English. Scanned PDFs must be OCR'd in Google Drive first.
Audio Overview stuck generating
Takes 3–10 minutes normally. If stuck beyond 15 minutes: navigate away and come back, then use the gear icon to regenerate. Large notebooks (40+ sources) regularly time out — reduce source count.
Citations missing or wrong
Citations appear only for passages NotebookLM indexed from your sources. Missing citations often mean the source was not fully indexed. Remove and re-add the problematic source to force re-indexing.
Not available on your account
NotebookLM requires a personal Google account (gmail.com). Many Workspace accounts (school or enterprise) block consumer Google services. Switch to a personal Gmail account at notebooklm.google.com.
Not available in your country
NotebookLM has a phased geographic rollout. Some regions do not yet have access. Check the NotebookLM Help page for the current list of supported countries.
AI responses are wrong or hallucinating
NotebookLM only answers from your uploaded sources — it does not use external knowledge. If answers seem wrong, the relevant information may not be in any of your sources, or the source was not indexed completely.

Check live status
Go to prismix.dev/service/notebooklm and also check prismix.dev/service/gemini-api. NotebookLM's AI runs on Gemini — Gemini degradation causes AI response failures even when NotebookLM's own services are up.

Fix source upload failures
Verify your file is under 500 pages / 200MB (PDFs). If uploading a scanned PDF, right-click it in Google Drive → Open with Google Docs to OCR it, then re-download the result as a PDF and upload that. If you have 50 sources, remove at least one before adding new ones.

Fix stuck Audio Overview
Wait at least 15 minutes — Audio Overview generation is slow for large notebooks. If still stuck, navigate to another page and come back. Then click the three-dot ••• menu on the Audio Overview card and select Regenerate. If it keeps failing, reduce your notebook to fewer than 30 sources.

Fix account restrictions
If you see "NotebookLM is not available for your account", your Google Workspace organization is blocking consumer Google services. Sign out of your work account, go to
notebooklm.google.com, and sign in with a personal Gmail account instead. - 5
Fix wrong or missing citations
In the notebook, find the problematic source in the Sources panel. Click the three-dot menu next to it → Remove source. Then add it again. This forces NotebookLM to re-index the content. For PDFs, ensure the document has a proper text layer — scanned images have no indexable text.

Check that your PDF is under 500 pages and 200MB. For scanned (image-only) PDFs: open the file in Google Drive, right-click → Open with Google Docs (which OCRs it), then download as PDF and re-upload. If you have 50 sources, remove one first.
NotebookLM Audio Overview stuck — how to fix?
Audio Overview takes 3–10 minutes. If stuck beyond 15 minutes, navigate away and back, then use the three-dot menu on the Audio Overview card → Regenerate. For notebooks with 40+ sources, reduce to under 30 sources before regenerating.
NotebookLM not available on my Google account — why?
NotebookLM is a consumer Google product. Some Google Workspace accounts (education, enterprise) are blocked from consumer Google services by their IT administrator. Sign into notebooklm.google.com with a personal Gmail account (e.g., [email protected]) instead.
