Is Luma AI Down?

The fastest ways to check Luma AI availability:

1. Prismix: prismix.dev/service/luma — live status + 30-day uptime + incidents aggregated in one place.
2. Luma's own status page: Check luma.ai/status and look specifically at the "Video Generation" row — other rows can be operational while the generation queue is degraded.

If Prismix shows Luma AI as "Operational" but Dream Machine is not generating:

• Dream Machine generation queued indefinitely — Free tier users are deprioritized in the generation queue. Pro subscribers get 5x faster queue priority. Peak hours during US daytime can cause 10–30 minute waits even for paid users. Check luma.ai/status and look at the "Video Generation" queue depth specifically — the rest of the platform can appear healthy while the generation queue is backed up.
• Credits not refreshing after subscription — Luma Dream Machine credits reset at the start of your billing cycle, not immediately when you upgrade your plan. If you just upgraded, check account.luma.ai for your exact cycle reset date rather than expecting instant credit top-up.
• "Content not allowed" rejection on normal prompts — Luma's safety filter is aggressive. Avoid any description of real-looking people, violence, or copyrighted characters, even in passing. Describe the scene style and mood abstractly rather than referencing specific people or named subjects; filters trigger on description patterns, not intent.
• Video resolution or aspect ratio not applying — The aspect ratio must be selected before the generation starts, not after. The toggle is at the top of the prompt area. Changing the aspect ratio after a generation is already queued or running has no effect on that job — you need to cancel and re-submit with the correct setting selected first.
• Luma API returning 401 Unauthorized — The Luma API (lumalabs.ai/dream-machine/api) is a separate product from the Dream Machine web UI. API keys are managed at lumalabs.ai/dream-machine/api and are not the same as your web UI login. Web UI credits and API credits are billed separately — running out of API credits does not affect the web interface and vice versa.
• 3D capture (iPhone app) upload failing — Luma 3D capture requires the iOS app to record footage; uploads must go through the app, not the web. Captures larger than 2 GB or with fewer than 300 frames fail silently with no error message. Use the in-app compression option before uploading large captures, and ensure you captured at least 300 frames before attempting to process the scene.
