Common causes of "Character AI not working"

If Prismix shows Character AI as "Operational" but you're having trouble:

High server load (peak hours) — Character AI handles hundreds of millions of messages. During peak hours (typically 15:00–23:00 UTC), servers may be slow without triggering a full outage. Try again during off-peak hours.
Character responses suddenly short or filtered — Character AI updates its content moderation regularly. Prompts that worked before may be filtered by new rules. This isn't an outage.
App crashing or not loading — Try clearing app cache (mobile) or browser cache (web). Outdated cached data can prevent the app from connecting to new API versions.
Account locked out — Multiple failed sign-in attempts trigger a temporary lock. Wait 15 minutes and try again, or use the "Forgot password" flow.
Character not found (404) — Public characters can be made private or deleted by their creator. Characters you've chatted with previously may no longer be accessible.
Mobile app vs web discrepancy — The mobile app and web app sometimes have different rollout states. If one is broken, try the other while Character AI pushes a fix.
