Meta AI button not showing up
Meta AI availability depends on your country and app version. If you don’t see the blue circle icon: update the app, check your region’s availability, and confirm you’re not using a VPN that spoofs a restricted location.

Meta AI image generation not working
Image generation (“imagine” command) uses a separate service from text chat. If text works but image generation fails, Meta’s image model may be temporarily down independently of the main AI chat service.
Meta AI on Ray-Ban glasses not responding
The glasses rely on the Meta View app and a Bluetooth connection. Ensure the app is updated, your glasses are paired, and you have a working internet connection. The AI features also require a Meta account in a supported region.

Check if Meta AI is down

Disable VPN
Meta AI is restricted in the EU and several other regions. If you’re using a VPN that tunnels through a restricted location, Meta AI will appear unavailable. Disconnect the VPN and try again.
Update the app
Meta AI features are version-gated. Open the App Store or Google Play and update Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger. Older versions may not have the AI chat feature at all.
Clear cache
Android: Settings → Apps → Facebook/Instagram → Storage → Clear Cache. iOS: Delete and reinstall the app (your account data stays in the cloud). Web: Open DevTools → Application → Clear site data for facebook.com or instagram.com.
Start a new conversation thread
Return to the app home screen and tap the Meta AI icon to start fresh. Existing conversation threads with persistent errors don’t self-repair — a new thread bypasses any stuck session state on Meta’s servers.

Is Meta AI available in my country?
Meta AI is available in the US, Canada, Australia, and many other countries, but is restricted in the EU and some other regions due to data privacy regulations. Meta hasn’t published a full availability list — the quickest check is to update your app and see if the icon appears.
Why is Meta AI in WhatsApp different from Facebook?
Meta AI uses the same underlying Llama model across platforms, but the integration is built separately for each app. WhatsApp Meta AI, Facebook Meta AI, and Instagram Meta AI can go down or update independently.
Can I use Meta AI via API?
Meta doesn’t offer a direct Meta AI API. However, the underlying Llama models are open-source and available via providers like Groq, Together AI, and others. You can also run Llama models locally.
