Common causes of "Manus AI not working"

Waitlist / invite-only access — Manus launched with an invite system; if you see a waitlist page instead of the dashboard, your account isn't activated yet. Invites were sent in batches — check your email including spam.
Task stuck in "Running" for >30 minutes — long-running agentic tasks can time out on the backend. Cancel the task (top-right X button) and restart with a narrower, more specific sub-task. Break complex tasks into sequential steps.
Browser automation failing on specific sites — some sites actively block headless browsers (Cloudflare Bot Management, DataDome, etc.). Manus cannot bypass these reliably. Sites with aggressive bot protection will cause browser steps to fail even when Manus itself is healthy.
File upload not processing — Manus supports PDF, DOCX, images, and code files. Files over 50MB or in unsupported formats (e.g., .pages, .numbers) silently fail. Convert to PDF first.
Capacity limits during peak hours — Manus went viral in early 2025 and demand regularly exceeds capacity. If you see "server is busy" or tasks queue without starting, try off-peak hours (early morning UTC).
Session expired during long task — tasks longer than ~2 hours may lose session context. Manus stores intermediate results in the task log — you can resume from the last checkpoint by continuing in a new message.
