Cursor not working? Common fixes
If the status shows "Operational" but Cursor's AI features still aren't working for you:
- AI completions not appearing — check your Cursor plan limits at cursor.com/settings. Free tier has a monthly completion quota.
- Cursor freezing or hanging — often a local indexing issue. Open the Command Palette → "Cursor: Resync Index" to rebuild the local codebase index.
- Chat giving incorrect answers — the AI is working but may have stale context. Try opening a new chat or explicitly @-referencing the files you want it to read.
- Slow completions — this often correlates with degraded status on Anthropic or OpenAI (the models Cursor uses under the hood). Check Anthropic and OpenAI status.
- Extension conflicts — other VS Code extensions can interfere. Try disabling all extensions except Cursor and reloading.
- Outdated version — check for Cursor updates in Help → Check for Updates. Cursor releases frequently.
