At Katzenberg’s Bash, OpenAI, Meta Execs Rub Elbows With Hollywood

Jennifer Hudson, the music superstar, knows how to work a crowd. And what her audience on Saturday may have lacked in rhythm they made up for with wealth and power. 

In the well-tended Woodside, Calif., backyard of former Dropbox Chief Financial Officer Sujay Jaswa, Altimeter Capital’s Brad Gerstner bopped in the crowd’s front row to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” while OpenAI’s most powerful executive, Greg Brockman, swayed in a leather jacket in the back of the lawn.

“I love to be among such greatness,” Hudson said from the stage, before going into “One Night Only,” from her breakthrough movie, “Dreamgirls.”

This was a dream summer for much of her crowd, who were attending the second annual end-of-summer party that Jaswa, a founding partner at tech investment firm WndrCo, has thrown with his business partner, Hollywood veteran Jeffrey Katzenberg. It mixed tech elite with bona-fide celebrities, such as actors Jessica Alba, Colman Domingo and Keke Palmer.
