Even measured against the frenetic heart rate of San Francisco’s real estate market, Alexander Lurie moves at a rapid pace.

On a recent Tuesday, Lurie, 41, who’s become a go-to broker for anyone with newfound AI riches, drove around Pacific Heights in a blur while touring a half-dozen of the city’s most expensive homes, hoping to scope out some potential properties for clients.

Lurie slowed down briefly to take a video call with a new client: the twentysomething son of a couple he has worked with before. “I’ve known your folks for a long time,” Lurie said. “You’re mishpachaha Yiddish word for family—“and nothing would give us greater pleasure than to take care of another family member.” As we rounded Franklin Street looking for parking, he took another call to make a verbal counteroffer on a $20 million home.

“It’s not a full day unless my phone asks me to charge twice,” said Lurie, the half-brother of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie. “You can’t sleep in this market.”
