Sony Deletes a Bunch More Movies from the Accounts of People Who 'Bought' Them

Few people can read EULAs or take the time to understand all the ramifications. Just like you wouldn’t sign any random citation the “person in the blue suit with the shiny star” hands you without reading it, don’t sign an “I agree” unless you read and agree.

In reality-land that means a lot of “offers” will not be reachable. FOMO, however, is not a reason to give away rights.

So what do you do?
– Get hard media or download the content
– Rip it to your server of choice. Jellyfin is free and good. Plex Media Server is too (although some options are pay.)
– Share access to your lawfully acquired content with everyone.

Remember, when these shit-talkers say they lost BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN SALES due to PIRACY, they first are using a definition of piracy that’s hilariously wrong, and second it’s not SALES, it’s temporary ephemeral licensing. Can’t have it both ways, Sony, which leads to the second begged question:

When SONY STEALS your media and you can’t ever access it again, that seems like theft. Why is that legal? If the answer is that you never bought it, never owned it, and all you had was that license, then how could you (and the other pirates) have STOLEN what you never removed from them nor had title to in the first place?

Hopefully one day this will come before a judge with a thinking process, not litigated by a has-been law-prof and “Kiwi” — his obese student of screwing up playing lawyer — and new case law will be made.

– what you download isn’t yours
– you agree to a limited license
– YOU PAY FOR THAT as if you’re purchasing the product/media/content
– Sony et al get to complain that downloaders are PIRATES and they lose 56 Billion Dollars in SALES each year
– But then they yoink that content and say it was never bought
