2. Creating your first video

4. Voice cloning

HeyGen's Instant Voice Clone creates a digital version of your voice from a short audio sample. Once cloned, you can use your voice in any HeyGen video — without recording yourself for every new script.

How to clone your voice

  1. Go to Voices → Instant Voice Clone in HeyGen
  2. Upload a clean audio recording — minimum 2 minutes, no background noise
  3. HeyGen processes it (5–15 minutes)
  4. Your voice clone appears in the voice selector
  5. Select it for any video — it speaks your script in your voice
Audio quality matters: Record in a quiet room with no reverb. Use a condenser microphone if possible. Poor audio (echo, background noise, clipping) produces poor clone quality that doesn't sound like you. A 5-minute sample gives better results than the 2-minute minimum.

Cross-language voice cloning

Once your voice is cloned, you can use it in any of HeyGen's 40+ supported languages. Write a script in French, and HeyGen outputs it in your voice speaking French — even if you don't speak French. The pronunciation may not be native, but it's your voice.
